Isabelle chose to use coloured tissue for the exterior of her Window.
She was not very confident using paint and liked the idea that this method would create an unusual textured
effect.
She was certain she wanted to create her own unique colours, rather than using the limited range that were normally available in shops. To achieve this Isabelle used 'water based fabric dyes' onto sheets of white tissue paper. After letting these dry she then tore them into small strips and applied them directly to the surface of her Window using white PVA glue.
Alain in this photo is applying 'coloured' tissue paper to his crocodile object for his Window. This tecnique is a good alternative to painting, and of course it replicates the same method as if one was applying paper mache.
As the tissue is glued to the surface, each piece naturally over laps the other.
This creates an interesting 'textural effect' and with great patience it's even possible to develop light and shade areas on paper sculptures to add to it's 3 dimensional quality.
